Lions trying to win five straight Thanksgiving games for second time

ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- The Detroit Lions are trying to do something they haven’t done in the modern era of the NFL -- win five games in a row on Thanksgiving.

What the Lions have already done on the holiday is rare in the modern era, having won four straight Thanksgiving Day games for only the second time since the AFL-NFL merger, the other time coming from 1997 to 2000.

It’s why Lions coach Jim Caldwell’s statement Monday was pretty curious when he was asked about their success on Thanksgiving and how he prepares his team for a short week.
