The Detroit Lions announced on Tuesday that they are placing wide receiver Marvin Jones on season-ending injured reserve.

Jones suffered an ankle injury near the end of Sunday's 20-7 loss at Minnesota. He leads the team with 62 catches for 779 yards and is second in the NFL with nine touchdown catches (teammate Kenny Golladay is first with 10).

The 29-year-old receiver stayed in the game after the injury because he didn’t want the Lions to be docked for an injury stoppage.
