Darrell Bevell came of age as an NFL assistant for the Green Bay Packers in the early 2000s, when Brian Urlacher was patrolling the middle of the defense for the Chicago Bears.
He got his start as an NFL offensive coordinator with the Minnesota Vikings in the latter half of the decade, when Charles Woodson was shutting down half the field as an All-Pro cornerback with the Packers.
And now that he’s calling plays for the DetroitLions, Bevell can’t recall the NFC North ever being as good as it is now defensively.
