Hawks’ Trae Young erupts for 42, Atlanta snaps Denver’s four-game winning streak

The Nuggets knew what they were in for, yet they looked helpless to stop the Atlanta Hawks’ firecracker point guard.

Trae Young toyed with the Nuggets’ defense Tuesday night at the Pepsi Center as part of a stunning, 42-point performance. His clinic, which included eight 3-pointers, snapped the Nuggets’ four-game winning streak as the Hawks prevailed 125-121.

The loss, which was all the more disappointing after a string of good defensive games, dropped the Nuggets to 7-3.

Nikola Jokic could manage only 20 points and seven assists against an underwhelming Hawks frontcourt. His 1 of 8 3-point shooting night underscored the Nuggets’ outside accuracy.
