Flipping the script: Broncos hope offseason focus on improving defense will end five-year playoff drought

The whistle halted in-progress play so often that it came to be expected.

Quarterbacks Teddy Bridgewater and Drew Lock would be on the run toward the perimeter or dodging traffic in the pocket when coach Vic Fangio ended the practice sequence.

They had nowhere to throw. Or the pass rush disrupted things too quickly. Or a combination of both.

The defense won. Again.
