At the dawn of a new season, Sasho Cirovski wasn’t very concerned about the capacity of his Maryland men’s soccer team to score goals. With a rebuilt back line and new goalkeeper, however, he figured the defense would need time to catch up with the attack.
Just a month into the season, the Terrapins have struck a pleasant balance.
“What could’ve been a weakness for us,” Cirovski said Monday, “has been a strength.”
After conceding two goals twice in the first three outings, Maryland (6-0-1) has recorded four consecutive shutouts and stretched the scoreless streak to 398 minutes heading into Friday’s visit to nationally ranked Michigan State (7-0-0).
