Quick take: The Mavericks have earned their spot in the West cellar with loss to Timberwolves

MINNEAPOLIS - Here's our three takeaways from the Mavericks' 101-93 loss to Minnesota Monday night at Target Center.

Going to Towns: Karl-Anthony Towns impaled the Mavericks with 20 first-quarter points when the Wolves moved head 33-19. Towns finished with 34 points and 11 rebounds, hitting 15-of-19 shots. His flip from the paint with 3:15 to play put the Wolves up 91-80 and ended any drama.

Road kill again: The Mavericks fell to 4-16 on the road - 1-13 at every arena not named Staples Center, where they are 3-0. This was especially disconcerting given that Dirk Nowitzki had a season-best 24 points and he combined with fellow forward Harrison Barnes for 50 points.
