Mavs view playoff series against Clippers as the beginning of a bright future

The season may have unceremoniously ended for the Dallas Mavericks with Sunday’s 111-97 loss to the Los Angeles Clippers inside the bubble in Orlando. But the Mavs see this as a beginning or sorts, a fortuitous look into some wonderful things that lie ahead for North Texas’ NBA franchise.

Not picked before this season to advance to the playoffs, the Mavs not only qualified for postseason play for the first time since 2016, but they also won two playoff games against a team many predict will capture this season’s NBA title. And the Mavs were able to accomplish this feat without Kristaps Porzingis (knee) for the last three games, and without Dwight Powell (Achilles tendon), Jalen Brunson (shoulder) and Willie Cauley-Stein (birth of daughter) during their entire 54 days in the bubble.
