Disaster found the Dallas Mavericks in more ways than one at the 2019 NBA draft lottery

Mavs CEO Cynt Marshall, you had one job. And, no, it wasn't to land Zion Williamson with the first overall pick since there was only a 6% chance of that happening Tuesday in Chicago.

It was to at least keep Zion out of the Western Conference. There was a 62 percent chance an Eastern Conference team would grab the first pick in the lottery. Instead, the New Orleans Pelicans -- a team that had the complete opposite of good luck this past season while dealing with Anthony Davis' trade demands -- landed the top pick. Memphis got the second pick.
