If results go the wrong way Sunday for Crew SC -- and what has gone right for the club the past two months? -- it could be staring at a 10-point deficit in the race for the final playoff spot.
A loss at Toronto FC would leave little on Columbus’ side with 13 games remaining except for Gregg Berhalter’s unwavering, against-all-odds belief. The coach and sporting director said Sunday’s outcome will have no bearing on how the Crew (3-7-10) approaches the final days before the MLS transfer-trade deadline.
“You will never hear us give up on anything,” Berhalter said.
