Soccer | Notebook: Crew has means to bolster roster

The 30-day MLS summer transfer window opened Monday, and given its struggling status and ample means to add reinforcements, Crew SC doesn’t figure to be quiet.

“I’d say it’s possible but unlikely — highly unlikely,” Crew coach Gregg Berhalter said Wednesday about the chances of standing pat in the next month.

The Crew (3-6-7) has won once since April 23 heading into Saturday’s game at the New England Revolution. It’ll be the first of three meetings the rest of the season against New England and former Crew star Kei Kamara.

The trade of Kamara in May netted the Crew several assets, including at least $500,000 in allocation money from the Revolution.
