Soccer | Kamara shines with two goals, but Crew gives up winner in stoppage time

Ola Kamara, as usual, had little trouble finding the net on Sunday night in Kansas City.

But two goals from its surging striker wasn’t enough for Crew SC, which played with 10 men for most of the second half, conceded a heartbreaker in second-half stoppage time and lost a 3-2 thriller to Sporting Kansas City in sold-out Children’s Mercy Park.

Matt Besler headed in the winner during the recycle of a short corner kick in the 91st minute, dropping the Crew’s record to 0-5-3 away from Mapfre Stadium.

“We worked too hard and were too strong not to get something out of this game,” Crew SC coach Gregg Berhalter told reporters afterward.
