Kei Kamara scored twice and Crew SC tied Sporting Kansas City 2-2 in its exhibition opener in Tucson, Arizona.
Unsigned rookie Chase Minter had an assist on Kamara’s first goal, scored one minute after both players entered the game at the start of the second half. Soni Mustivar scored for Kansas City in the 52nd minute, but Kamara drew a penalty kick and scored again on the rebound of his spot kick in the 74th. Faik Hajderovic tied the score for Kansas City in the 88th minute.
The Crew next faces Real Salt Lake on Saturday in Tucson.
