Crew SC defender Waylon Francis has suffered a labral tear in his right shoulder, The Dispatch has learned.
The left back underwent an MRI on Monday after he suffered the injury Saturday night in the Crew’s 3-3 draw against New York City FC in Mapfre Stadium.
A source said that Francis and the team are trying to decide whether the injury requires surgery, which would likely end his season. The labrum is a piece of cartilage attached to the rim of the shoulder socket that helps keep the ball of the joint in place. Other than surgery, Francis could choose to rest it and undergo physical therapy, giving him a chance to return before season's end.
