Goalkeeper Brad Stuver pitched a shutout, forward Ola Kamara scored a first-half goal and much went right for Crew SC in a 1-0 win over Veracruz of Mexico on Wednesday night in Mapfre Stadium.
It was a well-timed performance by a 19-man mix of starters and reserves, a 90-minute distraction from the rift between Crew SC designated players Kei Kamara and Federico Higuain that has made headlines and turned heads around the soccer world.
“We’ve been getting a lot of attention lately, and it’s for the wrong reasons,” Crew SC coach and sporting director Gregg Berhalter said.
