Crew SC midfielder Federico Higuain cut a solitary figure after an intense practice Tuesday, remaining alone on the training field to send ball after ball toward a net exactly like the ones that have taunted Higuain and his teammates most of the season.
Higuain is the chief architect of a once-mighty attack that is the least productive in Major League Soccer through eight games. He has scored one goal for the Crew, which has only two wins and seven goals through eight games and is the only MLS team averaging less than a goal per game.
He was doing exactly what he should have been, former Crew forward Brian McBride said.
