Crew SC was on its way to its first win of the season on Saturday in suburban Dallas, but a late-game lapse – individually and collectively – forced it to settle for a 1-1 tie with Western Conference leader FC Dallas in front of 13,174 in Toyota Stadium.
An unforced error by Crew midfielder Wil Trapp led to a tying goal by Dallas forward Tesho Akindele in the 77th minute, canceling out an early goal by Crew midfielder Justin Meram and keeping the Crew (0-2-2) winless through four games.
Meram scored on a clean header off a Federico Higuain corner kick in the ninth minute, his first goal since he scored nine seconds into a 2-0 win over the New York Red Bulls in the first leg of the Eastern Conference final on Nov.
