Soccer | Crew: Kamara suspended after outburst

Crew SC has suspended star forward Kei Kamara for a game against the Colorado Rapids this weekend for publicly criticizing fellow designated player Federico Higuain after the Crew blew a 4-1 lead and settled for a 4-4 tie against Montreal on Saturday.

“The actions of Kei, speaking out against a teammate, are unacceptable,” Crew SC coach and sporting director Gregg Berhalter said after practice today. “We have zero tolerance for that, and therefore he won’t be playing a game on Saturday.”

Berhalter said Kamara was disciplined for what he said to the media and not for his actions during a lengthy and embarrassing on-field argument with Higuain over who was take a penalty kick against Montreal.
