All remains quiet on Crew SC transfer pursuits, but a difference-maker might return to the lineup as early as next week.
Federico Higuain, out since early last month because of a sports hernia, is taking part in individual drills and starting to shoot the ball again. Coach Gregg Berhalter said the 31-year-old won’t be fit for a game Saturday against D.C. United at Mapfre Stadium, but he didn’t rule him out for a game July 23 against Orlando City.
“He’s coming along, he’s doing a little something,” Berhalter said.
Higuain last played June 1, a match that began a six-game winless streak in which the Crew (3-7-8) had plummeted to the bottom of the Major League Soccer standings.
