It’s hard not to look down at Crew SC defender Corey Ashe.
The 10th-year player is listed at 5 feet 5, and that might be an inch too generous. But to judge him by height is shortsighted.
“Pound for pound, his edge, his attitude, his competitive spirit, that’s what really sticks about Corey,” longtime Houston Dynamo broadcaster Glenn Davis said. “He’s a guy who can really connect with fans and teammates, because they know how competitive he is.”
That connection has yet to be made in Columbus.
Ashe, who spent 8½ seasons with the Dynamo, has yet to play for the Crew since signing one of the first free-agent deals in Major League Soccer history Dec.
