Soccer | Crew 0, Fire 0: Crew can’t crack Fire’s ugly shell on defense

BRIDGEVIEW, Ill. — Crew SC and the Chicago Fire played to a 0-0 tie Saturday at wind-whipped Toyota Park, a result that didn’t seem displeasing to either side.

Everybody was happy, except those who had to sit and watch it.

Pity the 12,605 who did.

“Today was just one of those days,” said forward Kei Kamara, who was held without a shot for the first time in his current 35-game tenure with the Crew. “The wind, the weather, the pitch — it was an ugly soccer day for both teams. But I think it’s a fair result for both teams, coming out with a point each.
