There is a hockey term of older vintage that applies to ravenous goal scorers. It is “Cookie Monster,” and it fits. The most prolific scorers want as many sweet cookies as they can get their hands on, to grab, to throw down their gullets, to let the crumbs fly.
They attract attention because, at last notice, scoring is important. They like the attention. Crew SC striker Kei Kamara, who tied for the Major League Soccer lead in goals last year, is such a divo. This week, he is being kicked around by every talking head in every soccer studio show, in several different languages, and he is being flogged on the blogs.
