Crew SC survives late drama and attacking push to beat NYCFC, 3-2

Columbus tallies its first 2016 victory on goals from Finlay, Kei Kamara and Meram

Both teams squaring off under the lights at MAPFRE Stadium Saturday were desperately needing the three standings points a victory would provide. And after two entertaining, shot-riddled halves of football resulted in a 3-2 win for Columbus Crew SC that was never comfortable by any means.

New York City FC came to town on the heels of a winless four-game homestand at Yankee Stadium, its lone triumph of the season coming at Chicago on March 6. As expected, head coach Jesse Vieira elected to use a 4-3-3 scheme on the road.
