Crew SC has further cemented its relationship with Gregg Berhalter, announcing this morning that he and the club have agreed on a multi-year contract extension as sporting director and coach.
Berhalter, who led the team to the MLS Cup in 2015, had been under contract through 2017, but a team release did not specify the length of the new agreement.
Berhalter was hired on Nov. 6, 2013, as coach and the club's first sporting director. Crew SC was 14-10-10 in his first season and landed the team's first postseason berth since 2011. The team was 15-11-8 last year, losing the MLS Cup at home to Portland.
