Crew SC forward Kei Kamara has found his way to preseason training camp, but he is still in search of a new contract.
Kamara, who tied for the Major League Soccer lead last season with 22 goals, remained in Columbus for the first four days of the team’s camp in Lakewood Ranch, Fla., before joining his teammates on Wednesday.
He has been a limited participant since, though it is his health — not a holdout — that is the reason, coach and sporting director Gregg Berhalter said. Kamara returned to his native Sierra Leone this month and returned with “a slight illness that limited his training,” Berhalter said Saturday night.
