Crew SC owner/operator Anthony Precourt has been adamant that the team will spend top dollar to land top talent, at one point even guaranteeing on Twitter that he'll part with a record $500,000 in allocation money received in the trade of star striker Kei Kamara.
On Wednesday, however, coach and sporting director Gregg Berhalter seemed to cast some doubt on his boss's pronouncements, saying the team might not sign a player from outside MLS or make a trade during the month-long transfer window.
Berhalter said "it’s possible” the team will stand pat. He added that it is "highly unlikely” there will be no moves, but he left the door open, nonetheless.
