Saunders: Troy Tulowitzki was a great player, despite complicated Rockies legacy

2

It was spring training of 2007 and my friend, Joe, came down to Tucson, Ariz., to catch a sneak peek of the Rockies. During a Cactus League game at Hi Corbett Field, Joe asked me which young player he should keep an eye on. I told him to watch a young shortstop named Troy Tulowitzki.

“He’s going to be a star,” I said, and on cue, Tulo went into the hole and made the jump throw that would become his signature.

This is not to brag that I had some great insight into Tulo’s future.
