Denver Post sports writer Patrick Saunders posts his Rockies Mailbag every other week on Tuesdays during the season and once per month during the offseason.
Does Kyle Freeland’s problem lie more in the mental aspect than a physical defect or fundamental source? Who is the pitching coach at Triple-A in Albuquerque? Thank you.

Robert, this is my theory:
First, Freeland ran into trouble because his mechanics got a little bit out of whack and he started missing his spots. Because he’s a “technician” — not a power pitcher who can blow hitters away and get away with mistakes – Freeland started getting hit hard (as evidenced by the 16 home runs he’s given up).
