Homers help Rockies maintain NL WC edge

SAN DIEGO -- After being shut out in their previous two games, the Rockies returned to the ranks of the scoring -- and the winning -- by getting home runs by Nolan Arenado, Ian Desmond and Trevor Story in a 4-1 victory over the Padres at Petco Park on Friday night.

Righty Jon Gray held the Padres to one run and five hits while fanning eight in six innings as the Rockies ended a losing streak at four games and improved their handle on the second National League Wild Card spot.
