DETROIT — Nathan MacKinnon’s overtime goal capped off a come-from-behind victory for the Avalanche on Sunday, who defeated the Detroit Red Wings, 4-3, at Little Caesar’s Arena.
MacKinnon also helped force overtime after the Avs found themselves down 3-1 late in the third period.
With less than a minute remaining in regulation, MacKinnon took a shot off the pass from Tyson Barrie that landed in the back of the net to tie the game at 3-3. MacKinnon’s shot, however, deflected off of Carl Soderberg, who was standing near the net, officially crediting the goal to Soderberg.
The Avs, who went 0-for-7 on the power play in Saturday’s 5-2 loss at Nashville, again struggled on the man-advantage against the Red Wings, beginning 0-of-6.
