Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon was named the NHL’s No. 3 star for producing seven points (two goals) in three games last week, including the game-tying assist and game-winning goal in Sunday’s 4-3 overtime win at Detroit. Last Thursday against visiting Washington, MacKinnon had a career-high five points with four assists and a goal. In his last nine games, MacKinnon has 17 points — 11 assists and six goals.
Colorado, which hosts Dallas on Wednesday before traveling to Minnesota for a Friday afternoon game against the Wild, had Monday off.
