The Colorado Avalanche have one more game to play before heading into the 10-day bye-week/All Star break. They won’t play again until February 1 in Philadelphia. In fact, today marks the last game at Pepsi Center until February 11.
So, today’s afternoon tilt has the potential to stick around in our minds for a time to come. We want it to be a pleasant memory.
Today also marks the only time Colorado will host the once-rival Red Wings. The two teams may no longer be bitter rivals, but Detroit seems to be making tanking a competition — their 12-33-4, 28-point record puts them on pace to “beat” Colorado’s cap-era worst season, the 48-point debacle.
