Avalanche defenseman Devon Toews on Monday was named the NHL third star of the week.
Toews, 27, tallied a league-high seven assists last week helping lead Colorado to a 4-0 record. On the season, he has recorded 20 points (four goals, 16 assists) in 16 games this season and leads all NHL blueliners with an average of 1.25 points.
This is the third time an Avs player has received a weekly award from the league this season. Defenseman Cale Makar earned back-to-back third-star honors in November.
Vancouver goaltender Thatcher Demko was this week’s first star and Carolina center Sebastian Aho is the second star.
