What we learned about the Cincinnati Reds' offseason plans during the GM Meetings

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. – The annual General Manager Meetings usually mark the unofficial start of the offseason. Front office executives from all 30 teams are gathered together and they meet with agents during the three days they are in town.

Offseason moves don’t typically happen until the Winter Meetings, which are in December, but teams begin to detail their offseason plans at the GM Meetings. They’ll learn about the market for free agents and trade targets.

Halfway through November, there has been one major free agent signing: Closer Will Smith inked a three-year, $40 million contract with the Atlanta Braves on Thursday.
