'This was the right time': Reds crush Brewers behind Vladimir Gutierrez's strong start

MILWAUKEE – Beginning a nine-game road trip Monday, the Cincinnati Reds couldn't have scripted a better start.

Vladimir Gutierrez allowed two runs in six innings, completing another impressive outing. Every starting position player recorded a hit. The bullpen pitched three perfect innings.

Oh, and the Reds picked up a game in the National League Central standings with a 10-2 victory against the first-place Milwaukee Brewers. The Reds have won 11 of their last 14 games and climbed within four games of first place in the division.

"We recognize that this is an opportunity for us to be a good team," Joey Votto said, "and do cool things and all share it.
