Cincinnati Reds prospect Nick Senzel out for season, could return for Arizona Fall League

Nick Senzel, the Reds top prospect, will miss the remainder of the season after it was determined Saturday he would need surgery to repair a torn tendon in his right index finger.

Playing at Triple-A Louisville, Senzel was pulled before his first at-bat in Friday's game. He fielded a ground ball at second base and had another play throwing to the plate in the top of the first inning where he apparently suffered the injury.

Senzel is expected to have surgery on his finger Tuesday. The Reds didn't release a timeline for his recovery, but there is hope in the organization that he could play in the Arizona Fall League, which begins in October, or winter ball.
