ATLANTA – In less than 24 hours last weekend, Kyle Farmer learned he was being reassigned to minor league camp before returning to the manager’s office and finding out he was going to open the season with the Reds.
When Scooter Gennett suffered a strained right groin in a spring training game, which will sideline the All-Star second baseman for 8-12 weeks, the Reds decided they wanted Farmer’s versatility on their bench.
