CHICAGO – The Yasiel Puig who has shown up in the batter’s box for the past month is the version of Puig that the Reds hoped would show up when they added him in a trade last offseason.

He’s transformed into one of the top hitters in the league. Puig entered Tuesday’s game against the Chicago Cubs with a .388 batting average, .430 on-base percentage, 11 homers, six doubles, 23 RBI and 21 runs in his last 27 games.
