Cincinnati Bengals QB Joe Burrow underwent successful left knee surgery on Wednesday

Joe Burrow's road to recovery is officially underway.

The Cincinnati Bengals quarterback underwent left knee surgery on Wednesday to repair torn ACL and MCL ligaments in his knee. The procedure was performed by Dr. Neal ElAttrache of Kerlan-Jobe in Los Angeles.

According to the Bengals, the operation on Burrow’s left knee was a success.

“Joe Burrow underwent successful surgery yesterday,” the Bengals said in a statement on Thursday. “The procedure went as planned and he is expected to make a complete recovery. Joe will begin the recovery process and we look forward to his return.”

Burrow suffered a season-ending torn ACL and MCL in the third quarter of the team’s Week 11 loss to the Washington Football Team when defensive tackle Jonathan Allen was blocked into Burrow’s left plant leg at the end of his throwing motion and defensive end Montez Sweat hit the quarterback from the opposite side.
