The calendar says May, but the white-roofed University of Cincinnati sports practice "bubble" recently reappeared in its 75-foot tall glory at the corner of Jefferson and Corry on campus. Passersby have one main question.
Why?
Why is the bubble back up, when it usually comes down for the warmer spring and summer months? Turns out, there is a good reason. It is related to the ongoing $87 million renovation of the nearby Fifth Third Arena, the home of UC men's basketball, women's basketball and women's volleyball.
"We had an unforeseen construction issue," UC associate athletic director Ryan Koslen said.
