UC men's, women's soccer earns AAC honors

The University of Cincinnati men's soccer team's opening-night win held more for the program than a victory.

From the 3-1 triumph over Grander-Webb, four UC players received American Athletic Conference recognition, UC officials announced Monday.

Freshman Darryn Commissiong, freshman Noah Lawrence, junior Malik Suleman were named AAC Rookie of the Week, Goalkeeper of the Week and Defensive Player of the Week, respectively.

Sophomore David Sanz also earned an Honor Roll nod for his efforts in the Friday opener.

Lawrence picked up the win in his debut for UC, Commissiong scored the would-be game-winner in the 33rd minute and Suleman polished off the win with a 90th-minute goal after Gardner-Webb pulled its goalkeeper late.
