NEWPORT, R.I. – Mike Aresco continued to push the American Athletic Conference as a "Power Six" league here Tuesday, at the league's annual football media day.
"We will be and remain a Power Six conference," AAC commissioner Aresco said, during his annual remarks to reporters at Gurney's Newport Resort & Marina ballroom. The event included the 2017 preseason media poll, with the University of Cincinnati picked to finish No. 4 in the AAC East.
Much of the world knows the AAC as a "Group of Five" football league, separate from the Power Five conferences which essentially rule college sports.
