UC basketball signs 6-foot-9 forward

The University of Cincinnati men's basketball team has officially added 6-foot-9, 205-pound forward Mamoudou Diarra to the fold.

Diarra, who gave an oral commitment to UC last week, has signed a scholarship and will play basketball for the Bearcats beginning with the 2017-18 season. UC coach Mick Cronin announced the signing Tuesday.

Diarra, originally from Bamako, Mali (West Africa), helped 22 Feet Academy (Greenville, S.C.) to a 29-9 record in 2016-17 while earning First Team All-Grind Session recognition and averaging 18.5 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.2 blocks. Diarra owns a 7-foot-2 wingspan, and he was one of 30 campers from 23 countries invited to participate in the NBA’s Basketball without Borders camp surrounding the 2015 NBA All-Star Game.
