WEST HARRISON, Ind. – Kahlil Lewis was floored to hear it. Yes, it has been nearly six years since the University of Cincinnati football team returned a punt or kickoff for a touchdown.
Special teams were among post-practice t–opics following the Bearcats' latest workout here Friday at Camp Higher Ground. A reporter mentioned the long touchdown drought to UC junior wide receiver/returner Lewis, who was fairly incredulous.
"That long?" Lewis replied. "Oooh. Dang. Yeah, I wasn't aware. I've got to change that."
It was Dec. 31, 2011, when UC's Ralph David Abernathy IV returned a kickoff 90 yards for a touchdown in the AutoZone Liberty Bowl game in Memphis.
