We’ve been through this before, and here we go again.
UC’s conference situation has been a major buzzkill for Bearcat fans ever since Syracuse, West Virginia, and Pittsburgh bolted from the old Big East in 2011, leading to the league’s demise. There was hope of a viable and respectable league when TCU and Boise State agreed to join the Big East, but that hope quickly subsided when TCU got a call from the Big 12 and Boise backed out. Since the Fall of 2013, the Bearcats have been relegated to the American Athletic Conference – that top teir of “have-nots” in college athletics who are on the wrong end of a $20-million per year disparity in TV money, bad football bowl tie-ins, and scant RPI top-50 competition in mens’ basketball.
