Bearcats sail past USF, notch 12th-straight win

Cincinnati Bearcats junior forward Kyle Washington had said a loss to South Florida would be “terrible.” It certainly would have been, given the caliber of the USF team that UC faced Sunday afternoon.

The No. 19 Bearcats overcame some early doldrums and drilled the overmatched Bulls 94-53 at Fifth Third Arena. Attendance was 12,576, as UC drew 10,000-plus for a sixth consecutive home game.

Freshman guard Jarron Cumberland (Wilmington High School) came off the bench for a career-high 26 points. At one juncture of the second half, Cumberland scored 20 of UC’s 22 points.

The Bearcats (19-2, 8-0 American Athletic Conference) were 25-point favorites to beat USF (6-14, 0-9 AAC).
