If former UC Bearcats star Ian Happ continues to rake as he has at Triple-A Iowa, he'll likely make his big-league debut for the Chicago Cubs sooner than they had expected.
Happ has 10 hits in his first 33 at-bats of the season for a .303 batting average, and half of those hits are home runs. His OPS is 1.149.
Happ's fifth home run of the season helped Iowa to a 5-2 win Thursday against New Orleans.
Happ also had an outstanding Spring Training for the Cubs.
At UC, Happ was named the American Athletic Conference Player of the Year and was a unanimous pick to the All-American Athletic Conference First Team.
