The left-footed Smith joins UC as a true freshman, despite turning 23 years old this week. The potential good news for Bearcats fans is that the last four winners of the Ray Guy Award (top collegiate punter) have been Australians.
But first, how did UC find its own Aussie punter? First-year UC coach Luke Fickell, it turns out, has connections Down Under. More on that later, but first a few words about the amiable, long-haired Smith.
