Michael Kopech is making his long-awaited White Sox debut Tuesday night against the Twins at Guaranteed Rate Field, but he’ll have to do so without All-Star first baseman Jose Abreu.
No explanation has been given for Abreu’s absence. He has been pounding the ball for a month (.350 with nine home runs and 26 RBIs in his last 26 games) and was 2-for-5 with a double and two RBIs Monday night in Minnesota.
Omar Narvaez, not former Triple-A batterymate Kevan Smith, is behind the plate to handle Kopech.
