ST. LOUIS — The Blackhawks did some things Wednesday to set themselves up for success.
They fired plenty of shots, and the more shots a team takes, the better off it generally is.
The problem for the Blackhawks against the St. Louis Blues on Wednesday wasn't quantity, it was quality. The Blackhawks won the quantity game. They lost the quality game. In the end, they lost the game 5-2.
The Blackhawks outshot the Blues 39-37 in five-on-five play. Some of that had to with their strong push in the third period, but the Blackhawks weren't that far off even when the Blues were apparently dominating play through two periods.
